Connect Claude to your private tracker

Claude is built for careful, nuanced reasoning — but like every AI assistant, it does not retain what you tell it between conversations. ChatData Sync provides a persistent, private tracking space that Claude can reach through MCP, so your assistant can log, retrieve, and reason about your actual data — not just what you paste into the chat window.

What is MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard designed to give AI assistants a consistent, secure way to connect to structured data sources and tools outside the conversation. Instead of building a custom integration for every assistant, MCP lets you configure one connection that any compatible assistant can use. Claude supports MCP natively, and ChatData Sync provides an MCP endpoint for every tracking space you create.

Which auth should you use?

For direct MCP setup, use your tracker token as a custom header named x-api-key. Use bearer tokens only when Claude is completing a ChatData Sync OAuth sign-in flow for you. If the screen asks for a header name, enter x-api-key. If it asks you to sign in, do not paste the token as bearer manually.

How to connect Claude to your tracker

1

Create your tracking space

Sign in to ChatData Sync and describe what you want to track in plain English. Your structured tracking space is generated and ready in seconds — no schema design, no field types to choose.

2

Copy your MCP endpoint and security token

Navigate to the Connect tab in your new tracking space. You will see an MCP endpoint URL and a scoped security token. For direct MCP clients, that token belongs in the custom x-api-key header.

3

Add the connection to Claude settings

In Claude, open Settings and navigate to the MCP connections section. Add a new connection, paste your endpoint URL, and add a custom header named x-api-key with your token. If Claude offers a ChatData Sync sign-in flow instead, use that flow and let Claude handle bearer tokens automatically.

4

Start conversing with your data

Ask Claude to log a new entry, retrieve records from last month, update a status, or summarize patterns. Every change is saved immediately and persists across every future conversation.

What Claude can do with your tracker

Example questions to ask Claude

Try saying things like:

"Log a pet visit today for Mochi — 45-minute drop-in, left dry food, all good."
"Retrieve all my tutoring sessions from the past two weeks and tell me which ones are unpaid."
"Update the Johnson home repair job — add a note that materials arrived and the job is rescheduled to next Thursday."

Why MCP matters for your privacy

You stay in control

Each MCP connection uses a scoped security token that is tied to a single tracking space. It does not give any assistant access to your other tracking spaces, your account, or any other data. You can revoke the token at any time from your dashboard — instantly ending Claude's access to that space without affecting anything else.

MCP is an open protocol, which means the connection behavior can be audited and understood. There are no hidden integrations or undocumented data flows — just a clearly defined, revocable link between Claude and your tracker.
